Dorgard Auto Release Fire Door Retainers
Everything You Need to Know About a Dorgard
What is a Dorgard?
Dorgard are fire door retainers that are capable of legally holding open a fire door wirelessly. Once a fire alarm is sounded, the device will automatically close the door, thus preventing the spread of fire and smoke.
How Does Dorgard Work?
Installed to the bottom of a fire door, this device can be set up in under five minutes. For activation to be initiated, this gadget requires 14 seconds or more of continuous alarm. Testing will not activate the closure of a Dorgard.A Dorgard has a rubber plunger/stopper which remains in contact with the floor.Simply press the top of the Dorgard as seen below:
This will activate the rubber stopper contact and allow the user to hold the door in any position. This is unlike magnetic door holders.
When a fire alarm sounds, the Dorgard signals the plunger to retract. This allows the fire door to close normally.
A Dorgard is battery powered and can be installed and operated alongside any existing fire alarm system currently in place.
