Fire Blankets like Fire Extinguishers should be commissioned by an Engineer to ensure they are safe and ready for use on a fire. Using a BAFE Qualified Engineer will give you the assurance that the maintenance procedures have been carried out according to British Standard, and in the event something goes wrong, you will be able to prove your compliance with the law.
Our Fire Protection Engineers will follow the procedure set out in the British Standard.
1. A maintenance record will be provided by the engineer to sequentially record the maintenance carried out on fire blankets
2. Details of records are kept in accordance with the requirements of AS1851. Maintenance records may be electronically based. For Fire Blankets, hard copy records, in the form of a record tag or label, shall be kept on site and be available at all times.
3. A maintenance record tag or label will be provided to record the last level of inspection performed.
Maintenance record tags comply with the following:
(a) Provide for the year and month.
(b) Be made of suitable material.
(c) Have lettering, with figures, and lines printed in black.
(d) Have a continuous background colour approximating Golden Yellow
4. At the completion of the inspection a report will be provided to the property owner or occupier.
