Astro PFP FR Acrylic is designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through joints and openings in fire-rated walls and floors, including gaps around building service penetrations. It also preserves the acoustic performance of the structure.
When exposed to normal atmospheric conditions, the sealant cures while retaining flexibility to accommodate joint movement. Under fire conditions, it forms a strong fire seal by expanding into a durable intumescent char.
For best results, it should be used with a suitable backing material, such as stone wool or Astro PFP FR backing, to achieve the correct width-to-depth ratio and minimise shrinkage during curing. Installation instructions specify the minimum depth and maximum joint width.
When testing pipes, configurations vary: the pipe may be left uncapped, capped inside the furnace, capped outside the furnace, or capped on both sides. The choice depends on the intended use of the pipe and the installation environment.
The capping configuration is indicated after the fire classification. For example, EI 60 C/U means the pipe was capped inside the furnace and left uncapped outside. The chosen test configuration determines the range of approvals possible.

Fire Protection Shop specialise in the supply of high-quality fire extinguishers. There are many different classifications of fire and so our products include a variety of different extinguisher types. For example, we offer water or foam fire extinguishers for solid combustibles and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers for flammable liquid or electrical fires. Each extinguishing agent comes with its benefits. Typically, water extinguishers are cheaper, produce a cooling effect and prevent reignition once the fire has been extinguished. Carbon dioxide extinguishers are clean agents, they leave no residue, are suitable for electrical fires and are often used on liquid fires which include petrol, oil or other solvents.
In addition to our extinguishers, we offer a range of fire safety products to both domestic and commercial premises. This includes the supply of fire blankets, extinguisher stands, smoke alarms, first aid kits and much more. Our entire range is sourced from reputable brand manufacturers at competitive prices. Also, all of our products carry a full warranty and guarantee and are supplied with relevant fixings where applicable.
